Hello world. I know I have spent so much time away from this page, and to those of you who are still checking it regularly, thank you for your patience. It's good to be back. To be honest, the past several months have been spiritually grueling, leaving little time to process much of anything other than music and the subjects that inspire it's creation. It's been a hard fought war for the album I am now referring to as "the glass passenger" and I have been reluctant to share too many details along the way, as it has been in constant evolution. The truth is, this record came with so many possible directions, and while that seems to lend itself to an implied freedom, it has taken me quite some time to find the voice and the words that would artfully portray this particular moment in my life. That said, last night, after a long recording session and a good listen on my rainy drive home I started to feel the finishing on the horizon, and that feeling is carrying me now. I will try and be more regular with my contact. Again, thank you all for your patience.
More soon

Thank you for all you have done and all the music you have made. (i just read about every post since May 2005 and my eyes are tired)

If the next album gives me as much shivers as pretty much any thing you have ever touched (that I've heard at least), I think it's worth it to wait for years...

Dear Andrew,
I just read the news about the new album in my intro to mac class, and I had a moment. Was teased by my two friends who I think have decided that I'm obsessed and crazy. Maybe I am. Ah well. Congratulations on all the hard work, and the time spent on your project. Can't wait to hear what you've been up to.

hey Andrew,
It's cool that your posting again. The name of the new album is profound. There are a lot of ways one could see that; depending on his or her background. Imagery and alligory is the best type of writing. In my view, your music fits into that category
just something funny the other fans might like:
I was looking at articles for biology. In a scholarly journal, the main author puts his or her contact information, so that if anyone has questions... Anyway, one I read was written by an Andrew Mcmahon (probably not the same person.) All I could think is, " Poor guy! He probably gets a lot of calls that have nothing to do with cellular biology."

If silence speaks louder than words then I am sure you are tired of screaming by now...
I'm glad you took the time to let us know what is going on and I'm eagerly anticipating the release of the Dear Jack Movie.

Happy new year Andrew! A new year is always all the more reason to allow for opportunities, to be swept up, and to soak up all the happenings and their effects on you.
This year why don't you: 1) try to be even more present to each moment and whether good or bad, let your own attitudes and reaction to the acceptance of them be your focus, 2) travel (I spent new year's eve on a skyscraper in Hong Kong and it was amazing), and 3) take a yoga class! Just try it, there is nothing anyone can say that will even begin to to make you understand, you just have to see for yourself.
Of course, there's no way anyone will know whether you do these things or not, but there's no time like n o w to do something different, something new, and to give yourself a chance to be a better, happier, stronger you.
Okay essay ends here. Have an awesome 2008.
you are lovedd:)

Andrew, I just read your entire blog and you are such an inspiration. You could write a book called "How to be Awesome" and it would be a best seller. So, you've inspired me to start playing the piano again after a nine year break. When you write songs do you normally write the music or lyrics first? And what mood are you usually in when you write?

Hey Andrew, I am just one more girl in the midle of a thousand who loves you and your fantastic band and musics, I really love it... and I'm so glad to hear that it's a new album coming out! but I live in Brazil and here I can't find your cd's! that's terrible! but when I go to the states I'll buy it! You know, my dad sad that if I pass in the college he will buy me a car but Intead of this I will ask for a trip to see a JM show!
