Elisha and Melissa Robbins

Hello Andrew!
I'm sad to hear that you are not in the best of health conditions, but I believe that with some prayers and others surrounding you with love that you will get better soon! I'm so proud of you and the band for touring for SO long...that takes A LOT of patience and will to do that! I hope that you will be able to take this time to rest and hopefully relax :)! You willl be in my prayers!
God Bless,
<3 Elisha

worried over here, hon. i know you're in the process of hiding out and making music, but you've never been one to keep us in the dark. as funny as that clip up on the main site of you and headbangin bob and jay in sydney is, i could tell you were not the most energized you've ever been. are you feeling better? hope we hear from you soon, or at least send casp as the messenger onto blayne's board....luv ya. fuck yeah and keep fighting.

So I've got this rack of CDs and there are some that have some amazing songs on it and such. There's always been one CD that hasn't sat in it's case since the day I bought it and that CD is Everything in Transit. It seems, of any CD, that it hits me on such a personal level; I can listen to it in any season of the year. It seems the only thing that keeps me warm in the dark of winter, and the only thing that keeps me cool in the summer. Somehow the CD keeps me sane and reminds me of times exactly how its described. It's like your personal journal spread upon music sheets and so I don't doubt that it sticks in your mind. It's like obsessing about memories of the past when you don't want to face the ones coming in. If anything, I hope you get out of a mess you seem to give off and get back on your feet, whether your music stays the same or not. I'll relate no matter what. And thanks for saving my life with your music.

Andrew: I recently discovered your music via a co-worker, and have been playing "Oh, California in Summer" as if it were my own personal national anthem. The entire "Everything in Transit" album feels like it was written for this particular time in my life: I'm somewhat out of your marketing demographic at 50 (just turned), but you've managed to create my "soundtrack." My 20 plus years in the corporate world ended abruptly this past December, and my marriage is also on its way out. Your music is helping me get PLAN B out of the mud, and I want to thank you. I understand from the news release that your health needs attention, and I look forward to seeing you work live (and well).
If you see a gray-beard amongst your devotees, it may be me, but I think you'll find more of us out there than you realize.
Again, thanks and please get well.

Hi Andrew. I've recently discovered your music, and I must say it has quickly become my favorite album. When I listen to Everything in Transit, I can truly feel the lyrics because you put so much of yourself into them. It's amazing, simply put. I hope you're doing well. Rest & take care of yourself before anything else. <3 Ashley

Even though I have no idea what it is like to write songs, I am going through some of the same emotions you seemed to have had and it is just extremely helpful reading your thought process of dealing with life at that particular moment. I am at a point in my life where I am supposed to have figured out what I want to do with my life. I randomly selected a career back in high school when I applied for colleges and only now (my last year of college) do I realize maybe that was not such a good idea since I have stuck with that major. I think we forget that there are all these options in life, and we don't have to take the route we are supposed to based on what our outside surroundings tell us. Because in the end if we are not happy with our decisions why go through all the struggle of trying to make them or act on them if it does not feel natural or comfortable.
Probably none of the members in the band will read this, but maybe somebody else who is going through what I am going through at this very moment will relate and find meaning somewhere in this venting post. I think sometimes we have to remind ourselves that we do not have to live up to other's peoples expectations. Believe in yourself, the rest will come. (I think I stole that line from somewhere, but it makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.)

So, I'm really sorry that this comment isn't about the post (it was beautiful by the way).
Funny story: last night me and three girlfriends played beer pong at Jake's (PIKE)house off campus and what's beer pong with out music right? So emotional drunks as we are, Dark Blue comes on, and we talk about SoCo and the fact that I knew your name (fan that I am) must have impressed Mike or something. So he said you visit sometimes.
I realize that it's incredibly common for college guys to brag and boast to girls they're drinking with, but if you do visit, I'd be very much obliged to meet you.
And if this entire comment is a bunch of names and pointless stories that you don't care about: I'm sorry... thanks. (and P.S. I'm not a drunk... I'm totally sober while i'm writing this. Just FYI)

SOCO FAN

Is something corporate gonna ever be back?

Please go back to something corporate, jack's mannequin is awesome, don't get me wrong, but i miss something corporate and i never got a chance to see you guys live. If you don't bring back soco for a new album at least just play a show in chicago.

Linda

I agree!!!! Like Jack's Mannequin and all, but frankly the side-projects you, William and Josh have been working on aren't nearly a tenth as good as SoCo (well yours is about 2/3 as good...don't tell the others!).
I've been playing SoCo songs at work and people really like you and keep asking me who you are and I have to tell them you broke up. It's just not cool!
At least do one more cd. And come to Australia one more time. That would be the best thing ever,

Peace out.

tiffany

there's gonna be more soco after he's finished with jack's. be patient and let him do what he feels he needs to be doing.

btw, that's kind of what the whole blog is about...

"I want to make something that matters to me and hope it matters to everyone else, but Ive got to start in my gut and not on some assembly line. Youve got to forget that you have fans, fans that expect whatever they may expect for your art..."

Ashley

Andrew... I hope to meet you one day at a show & tell you in person how exceptional you are. It's so amazing to have music that has so much substance to it & that I can connect to so much. Your positive outlook on life is contagious :) Thanks for being you. I appreciate you & your work more than you'll ever know. Be well dear & I'll do the same.

Anna

Kristy

i agree. it has been a long time since an update and people are becoming concerned. please write and let us know how you are doing?

Kynan

I remember seeing Andrew McMahon play with Something Corporate at the Warped Tour in Calgary Canada, I think it was the summer of 2001.

Never in my life had I seen a guy with such intense life & vibranant singing & playing of the piano.

Liz

Andrew, I hope youre doing well. We havent heard from you in awhile so please update and let us know how you are doing.

Hayli

ive always wondered about that. how you can possibly make new songs with new music after you've been continiously hearing and playing the same album for months? because sometimes as fans we have a hard time adjusting to new music too. it's just different, you know?

Tessa

<3
oh, Andrew.
it feels like a long time since I last got to see you (last sept) and even longer since I first fell in love with your music three years ago. but if anything, the feelings are stronger now. I still have yet to meet another person in this world who thinks and creates on the same level as you do.
anyway, I miss you lots and hope you're doing well. The forthcoming AP cover looks great, btw :)

keep being amazing & good luck.
love,Tessa
